We'll cover how to handle records, executive sessions, and disclosure decisions in the interim, along with the questions that remain even under the revised statute.
The backdrop: this June, OEDA broke down the surprising new confidentiality language in Ohio Revised Code that broadly required public bodies to treat nearly all information tied to economic development assistance as confidential, even exposing officials and employees to potential criminal liability for disclosure. It caught much of the economic development community off guard. Now the General Assembly has responded with a fix: House Bill 479 narrows that requirement to individualized compensation and payroll information.
