OEDA 360 is designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive view of the state of economic development in Ohio, identify new resources for successful projects, and interact with peers and thought leaders from around the state. Attendees can earn 5.5 credit hours towards the Ohio Certified Economic Developer credential at this year’s event.

AGENDA

10-11 a.m. S.W.O.T. Ohio –Key Issues Impacting Economic Development Across the State

This one-hour panel discussion is a take on the classic S.W.O.T. analysis and features economic development leaders from each of Ohio’s six regional network partners.  This candid conversation will review the opportunities and challenges facing our state, where our strengths lie, and areas in which we need to improve if Ohio is going to be successful—across all regions of the state as well as the state as a whole.

What are the current and emerging issues and what do they mean to me?  How might my community and/or organization be impacted?  How can I prepare?  Are their new opportunities?  Are there threats on the horizon?  S.W.O.T. Ohio will help you answer these questions and more.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Leading Industry Trends – A JobsOhio Perspective

This session brings together the industry sector leaders for four of the state’s key industries in consideration of their impact to the state economy and footprint across the state.  Understanding the changes and trends shaping these industries is key to understanding the impact to your community and region.

Technological advances, market trends, and changes in public policy are constantly shaping these industries and ultimately impacting economic development strategies, business retention and attraction, site development and selection, workforce needs and the attractiveness of certain economic development tools and incentives.

Successful economic developers need to understand the industries present in their local communities and region as well as target industries for future growth.

12-1:15 p.m. Luncheon Keynote “Future of Economic Development”—Jeff Finkle, CEcD, President and CEO, International Economic Development Council (IEDC)

As President and CEO of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Jeff Finkle is a recognized leader and authority on economic development.
